Serena Williams began her bid to win the Australian Open for a fourth time in emphatic fashion, swatting aside China's Meng Yuan 6-3, 6-2. Wearing a tie-dyed outfit, the American, who won the title in 2003, 2005 and 2007, needed little over an hour to secure victory over the world No123. Serena saved two break points and converted 3 of 7 break points. Williams served at 62% for the match and won 84% of her first serves and 55% of her second serves. Serena has NEVER lost in the 1st Round of a Grand Slam (37-0). She could meet her sister Venus in the semi-finals and will face either Anastasiya Yakimova or Gisela Dulko in the 2nd Round.
