Olympic Tennis: Serena and Ivanovic in same half

The world number one is in the easier half of the draw where her sternest test looks to be a possible semi-final match-up with Serena Williams. Second seed Jelena Jankovic, meanwhile, opens against Cara Black of Zimbabwe but will keep close tabs on Wimbledon champion Venus Williams, her potential semi-final opponent. Third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova and fellow Russian Dinara Safina also lurk in the bottom half of the draw. The Olympic tennis tournament No. 4 seed Serena Williams will make her Olympic singles debut against Olga Govortsova.

Serena:

Just watched you get waxed by the Russian at the Olympics. You simple died during the last set. If no one has had the nerve to tell you yet, you need to lost 30 or 40 pounds of fat so that you can stay competitive!!

Sorry for the bad news, but it is the truth!!

Still a fan, but you need to get back into shape.

Bill, I get how you might feel that way but I hope that you are not basing your opinion on one loss to an excellent player in the Olympics!! Serena has more muscle than fat; furthermore, she has even more muscle now than she did in 04-05 season. It is a possibility that she may be consuming too much protein, which can make you bulky. Dude, she most definitely don't need to lose 30-40lbs- maybe just 10lbs of fat. You seem to not realize that she only weighs 150lbs and she is 5"9! Her weight had nothing to do with her losing agst. Dementieva.
