STANFORD, Calif.(www.BankOfTheWestClassic.com) – Venus and Serena Williams, the reigning Australian Open and Wimbledon doubles champions, have entered the doubles draw at the 2009 Bank of the West Classic being held July 27 – August 2 at the Taube Family Tennis Center on the campus of Stanford University.
The Williams sisters have won 14 career doubles titles together including nine Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals. They have been nearly unbeatable this year posting 14-1 record which includes victories at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
Venus and Serena Williams, along with Lisa Raymond, are the only active players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour to have completed the career doubles Grand Slam. Their Grand Slam wins include three Australian Opens, one French Open, four Wimbledons and one US Open.
